Shadow Rocke Kennel Welcome to Shadow Rocke Kennel. We have been raising our AKC Registered German Wirehaired Pointers since 1999. We chose the German Wirehaired Pointers because of their versatility in the field and all-around. Our “kids” are a major part of the family. They are spoiled and pampered, but when it comes to hunting they are all BUSINESS. They spend equal time in their kennel and in the house in the off-season. When our kids are in the house they love to spend time on the couch cuddling and watching television with us. We currently only raise one litter per year. From the time that the puppies are whelped, they are handled daily (several times), and are very well socialized. We have trained all of our Shadow Rocke dogs, but in some cases we use a professional trainer to fine-tune the resources within the dog. The German wirehaired pointer averages 22-26 inches at the shoulders. Females weigh on average 45-55 pounds and the males generally average 60-70 pounds. The German wirehaired pointer is the most versatile hunting dog on the market today. This breed of dog will handle the colder weather quite well due to their longer, wiry coat. They make wonderful companions as well as a great hunting partner. |
